I just wonder why there is no app for smartphones to force connecting to a specific cell tower ? someone told me it was possible for some old phones.. why it is not possible now? Is it technical issue with android/ios ? Any idea?
I'm going to assume the carriers would be against it. It would probably cause issues they wouldn't want to deal with.
It's possible to get the info of the current cell tower that smartphone is connected to as is also locking to some specific frequency (most likely with vendor specific AT commands). But to lock into specific cell tower ...? I would be very interested of that too. Do you remember what old phones could lock to specific cell tower?
