Why don't I get alerts anymore?

When I was using Norton Internet Security 2005, I used to get alerts about threats, attacks, whatever. Since I switched to NOD32, LnS, and Ewido, I haven't received one single alert. No one is trying to attack me? Why? Where are all those Trojan alerts? Don't any of those evil forces know I exist

Different software have different criteria about what constitutes as a threat. I do not think anyone is or was trying to attack you - deliberately. You were most likely being probed by bot machines.
Furthermore, your new setup might have a better out-of-the-box configuration that makes for fewer alerts and less noise. Check your internet log in lns, maybe you'll find interesting stuff.
Or it could be Chuck Norris marked you for his, so no one messes with you.

I checked LnS's log and nothing is there, using Enhanced Rules setup. I checked NOD's Threat log and nothing there.

This is very boring not getting any alerts. I want some action

 

in addition, in the options tab of lns u can check the message box to shows message boxes whenever you are attacked or u could check the sound box to play a sound whenever you are attacked.

also make sure ur connection is active so that lns can log something

 

Connection? The Welcome screen shows me connected. Is there something else?

in ur looknstop directory, its located in a folder named logs. heres an example:

i dont know how to get the message box to show however.

 

I was wondering where that Log file would be installed. Thanks for the information. I do check LnS's Log in the actual component and have not seen anything peculiar.

thats weird it shows for me. is imageshack in ur adblock list (firefox) or in ur HOSTS file?

 

I don't use AdBlock; I am using Ad Muncher but a quick look didn't show imageshack. In fact, I used imageshack today to post a photo on another forum.

I checked SpywareBlaster and didn't see it listed there either. Any other ideas?

Yes, I saw that one. Now I have to find out why the other pic didn't show.

 

I went to another site where images are uploaded via imageshack and they do show up.

The PC without any LnS logs must be running behind a NAT router, or behind a gateway corporate or home firewall? If you were using internet connection sharing {ICS} then only your HOST computer that is directly connected to the Net would show any hits, the CLIENT computers would be as if running behind a NAT router.

 

I do have a wireless modem/router but the firewall is not enabled.

 

If the router is doing network address translation {NAT} then it will drop all unsolicited inbound communication. Maybe that is what is happening?

 

Hmmm....should I get rid of the router and give the hackers a better shot?
