    Hi

    which utility do you use the backup your registry?

    i use ERUNT.EXE for windows XP, but after a backup and a restore --> reboot -->my quick launch is disappeared and this is very boring because i have to enable it and re-sort how i like the icon

    did you notice, find such issue? i tried to tweak the registry (disable icons positition save on exit)

    which utility do you use for xp or vista?

    thanks

    I just copy the whole registry to a folder in "My Documents"

    i.e. 02162009.reg

    but it isn't a restore

    i mean for example (you export the registry) install a program that create new entries
    and you import the registry saved with regedit , it will not restore the registry it will merge , so every new entries (made by the program) will stay

    Got it, OK, my bad.

    I've tried erunt, but it failed me so many times I just gave up. Perhaps I should have investigated the problems I was having, but it really wasn't that much of an issue. So I just stopped using it.

    I really do not do too many reg BU's any more. I use FD-ISR so I always have a SS to revert to in the case that something catastophic happens.

    You can try Regbak. It seems like Erunt; I didn't try it however as I use only Erunt, with it command line features.

    Never disapear!

    It seems that your problem isn't ERUNT related.

    This can help you perhaps: Link1 - Link2

    right!
    it's Crapcleaner
    winsys.ini
    Code:
    [Window Size/Location Cache]
    LangSecRef=3004
    LangRef=3127
    WarningRef=3205
    RegKey1=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\StreamMRU
    RegKey2=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Streams
    if you enable it , it delete the keys about quicklaunch ,can't understand why...:thumbd:

    A good find, mantra.

    CCleaner think that «\ShellNoRoam\Bags\» is the same that «\StreamMRU\». CCleaner has been admixing dissimilar conceptions.

    Too bad - even when it is in 'Advanced' items.

    Like I don't use CCleaner, no problem...

    Better is to use ERUNT before using CCleaner... - not after... :D

    OMG

    Again: a good find, mantra!

    Yes.

    And maybe a day CCleaner fix this regrettable annoyance...

    I added and use a CleanAfterMe (NirSoft)'shortcut in Quick Launch, with the command «/clean CleanAfterMe.log» to cleanse automatically.

    For a deep and customized cleanse I use Eusing Windows Washer.
