My retirement custodian requires me to have AV on my Mac. I am due for license renewal for Bitdefender. I was looking at Malwarebytes for Mac. This is not a question which AV is better but rather which one is better supported by developer. Which one would you guys go with?

I don't use it. Only thing I install on my Mac is a good firewall like Lulu. I haven't been infected by malware yet.

You may need one to avoid infecting Windows users but this is UNIX. Everyone runs Mac in a standard user account and you need to elevate privilege temporarily to install software.

Plus MacOS is locked down so you can't install software outside of the Apple Store from an untrusted vendor.

No surprise, because in the last few years, macOS built-in protection has been bypassed numerous of times. Here you can find some more info about protection scores from third party AV's:

    https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-macos/macos-bigsur/june-2021/

Both features are also available on Win 10, the first one is called UAC and the second one is called the Microsoft Store.
