    Heh, really.

And out of all of those care to venture what percentage are most/been useful? compared to those that were simply tryouts like a football scrimmage game. LoL

Malware Defender! A great software as well as it's a Chinese based HIPS soft.

    ProSecurity 1.30 (free) was mine!
Was a promising package until the developer sold out.

RTDefender (ProSecurity re-packaged) has never got beyond the 'website under construction' phase and I seriously don't think it ever will.

D+ in CFP3 was the first one I really used a lot. Still one of the best. I actually used the HIPS in Kerio 4 well before that, along with importing my version of the Blitzen Zeus 2.1.5 firewall rules, but since you had to pay for KPF4 version of the HIPS I never really got much use out of it before the trial expired. Don't even remember how well it worked, but wasn't impressed enough to pay. Does KPF 2.1.5 count? :)

Oddly enough i still use SSM v. 2.0.6 568 on one of my units and i still enjoy the instant info whenever a driver is unloading or loading as well as all the other goodies it was made with.

Gonna miss it. I would loved to see this HIPS redefined GUI wise.

My first HIPS is Windows NT 3.5. You may not regard Window NT as Host Intrusion Prevention System, but Windows NT line is nothing but HIPS :)

Nope, Host == Computer, and NT prevented intrusions much more effectively than WFW or W95 :)

Hey, any first version of any HIPS did a lot less than they do now, you MUST agree !

We talked of the first HIPS, and my first HIPS was NT. I never said it was perfect :)

Well, it was my first true HIPS.

I was a newbie in malware control back then.

Right now, I use a much, much better HIPS (Comodo +D)

HIPS have also become much easier to use. Compare the present version of SSM free to one of the 1.8 or 1.9 versions. No learning mode. The present version modifies the rules for both the parent and child process when a dependency is specified. On the older versions, the user had to modify each one manually. Specifying an allowed child process for one executable didn't automatically result in that process having the other specified as an allowed parent. You were prompted twice for every change, once for each process involved. If a user wasn't careful, they could easily overlook a dependency and make their system unusable. All it took was missing one executable that was involved in the bootup process.
