Reliable disk-imaging software, which in my case happens to be Drive Snapshot. No other kind of software can be depended upon to bail you out of the most dire of problems!

Drive imaging seems very important to me also. I am using Paragon Drive Backup.

I actually use IE8 more than any program on my computer.

MS Excel is a favorite standby.

    Other very useful:
    IrfanView
    AVG free
    PerfectDisk10
    CCleaner
    Foxit Reader

You stole my punch line... FD-ISR Classical (the true full featured version).

    Second would be MP3Toys

Hmm ... it depends. I like to have a reliable backup, yes ... but that's not how you work and live with your machine ... you need something for everyday stuff.

I can't say the most important, but among the most important are probably: browser, text processing utility, imaging software.

    Mrk

Drive Snapshot, because it goes beyond PC backup & image. I also backup my Tomtom, my USB keys, my XBOX savedgames with it.

System Partition Imaging (Image for Windows is my preference) and file backup (Syncback Free) to RAID1 Network Server.

Excluding imaging softwares, for me is Fast Stone Image Viewer. I collect nature and landscape images and I love this program. :) ( I love almost all the viewer :D )

This same question, in one form or another, seems to be asked every other week.

    1) Imaging program

    2) Returnil/Deep Freeze (Instant Recovery)

    3) Truecrypt

    4) PDF reDirect (pdf printer driver)

    5) Magic DVD Ripper/Magic DVD Copier

The original FD-ISR we are referring to is no longer available, but there is an app of a lesser quality.

    Macrium Reflect for me.
But my second choice would be Firefox.

    Opera Browser.

No worries when surfing: drive-by downloads in the wild don't work with Opera properly configured. Including the current PDF exploits.
