    GIMP in Linux, Paint.NET in Windows.

    None atm, only the Windows Live Photo Gallery basic automatic correction.

    If I needed to pick one, I would go with Paint.net, Photoshop or Photoscape.

    Photoshop & Lightroom. IrfanView for batch processing mostely.

    Since my main need for a image editor is to add red, demonic eyes,with slit yellow pupils, to pics of famous political figures,plain old MS Paint works fine for me.

    I worked as a photographic assistant for a couple of years and we always used Photoshop and have been using it ever since. Horrendously expensive but I still think it's the best there is. Saying that, GIMP is incredible for a free product.

    Yes, there are several. Even Photoshop has an online version which can be used for free - https://www.photoshop.com/
