How can you say that? The latest firewall leak test does have Jetico winning with Outpost Pro and Look n Stop tied for 2nd. ZoneAlarm Pro and Norton are not that far behind.

    Complete results here.

How could you possibly say the others have NO protection. There is also some debate as to whether leak tests should be considered or not when considering a firewall.

    This thread discusses that notion.

Jetico is also difficult to set up and administer which makes it impractical for the majority of users.

    That is discussed here.

depends on what protection u want. if u just want to block/control packets, ghostwall or lns lite would be fine. if u want application control then ull probably want jetico (if u can configure it properly). i like looknstop (paid). its very light and theres preset rules for many games.

    Inbound: CHX!
    Outbound: seems Jetico.

He says this because if you had CAREFULLY read the original post, metallicakid mentioned LooknStop LITE, which has inbound filtering only. Windows firewall and Ghostwall are also inbound ONLY, so FatalChoas was correct.

If you are going the inbound only route, I recommend CHX-I. If you don't have any router at your network or filesharing programs, setup is very simple since all you need to do is download the workstation rules from the webiste then enable SPI for all protocols, and you are done.

Jetico is very nice and also has pretty good packet filtering, so CHX-I isn't really necessary. It's a bit quirky to manage the rules though.

    Good luck,

Original poster never said anything about ease of use, resource hog, etc. Just which gave most protection.

    Oh really?!!

I didn't test this one, as I was sure it's boring to set, but now that you told that.. ;)

Another point which is not clear, is that last time I've looked at the site, it was not annouced as freeware; but everyone tells it's free for personal use, it must be how it has to be understood o_O .

    Cheers,

It is free for home use, just click the registration button on the website and they will send you a product key. Another tip is to enable logging for all of the spi so you can tell what is blocked. The online documentation is great as well.
