I recently registered on < https://firstlook.org/theintercept/ > and < https://sourceforge.net/ >. And without my intervention, my accounts are using my standard avatar.

Where, I wonder, have they gotten that image from? I do have a Gravatar account, but I didn't use that in either signup.

Yes, that is the point of gravatar

When you signup with your gravatar "email" and the site supports gravatar, it will show there

So the site has to support it with some kind of site plugin that connects your email with your gravatar

You can have more than one email in gravatar and each email with different avatar

    Thats my understanding

Thanks. I thought that I would have needed to signup explicitly using Gravatar. But your explanation makes more sense.
