When do I select this during Recovery?

    If you are restoring the C partition to the same drive (perhaps to correct a bad software or hardware installation or to get rid of spyware, etc.), the MBR should be fine, so it doesn't need to be restored.

    If you feel that the MBR has been damaged as shown by boot problems, restore the MBR.

    If you are restoring to a new or different hard drive, restore both C and the MBR (in other words, the whole disk).
