Boy is this thread right down my alley. LOl. I'm not sure how to list these like everyone else though, so I'll just name my three favorites until someone here tells me how to do it. In no specific order. Spyware Terminator, Cyberhawk, and believe it or not, a very old version of Zone Alarm Free that I tried recently after seeing a post from someone who said they were using it and liked it. I'll list more when I figure out how. LOL. Seriously though, can someone tell me how to do it?

Firefox 1.5.xxx version 2 doesn't like my computer, or vice versa.

AVG antivirus

firewall, hardware inbound, software outbound

And, I'm not sure I even need the av or outbound firewall any more. Sometimes, you run across a program that just works, and PowerShadow works.

SandboxIE, Comodo PF, Avast!. This is a setup on its own, all free, and to my knowledge, complete. There are scanners, but active, these will do the trick.

CCleaner - an effective security tool, which prevents infections from working at all

HijackThis - it simply reveals info about the most vulnerable parts of the Windows

Internet Explorer - with cookies, scripts, addons disabled, it is as safe as Vista

MWAV - the best anti-mallware scanner I use to scan some downloaded files

SIW - shows open ports, running processes, loaded DLLs, really much info

WWDC - usefull tool to close some ports on Vista: 49151,49152,49153

Not quite sure what you mean or exactly what you're trying to do. If you mean list your aps in a column, then that works just like any other word processer. You hit ENTER

then it drops you down a line. I hit ENTER again

and that's all there is to it.

Is that what you mean? Or, are you talking about editing your signature and adding your apps in the sig? If so, that's pretty much the same. Click on your Duke1959 name at the top. It will take you to another page. In the left top side click on "User CP." It will take you to another page, where you can click on "Edit my signature" (or something along that line). Then it will take you to a another page where you have an edit box just like the one you are using to do regular posts. Hope that answers your questions.

P.S. I knew you couldn't stay away for long!

Oh, I guess while I'm here I'll list my favorites:

I use VMWare with Linux, which makes all the other security apps a moot point.
However, since I still connect to the net via dial-up in XP, I use Comodo firewall and also keep NOD32 running. I just make sure I have all my vulnerable ports blocked with specific rules in Comodo. Also, I can use the same setup in Linux with my browsers (Firefox, Opera) that I do in XP (add-ons, widgets, etc). Only thing is that browsing speed is about 3 times as fast in Linux.

The apps. below in my sig. are all free versions and work very well for me.

Firefox w/no-script and about 22 other extensions.

Here is a list of Online malware scanners - Most requires ActiveX & IE 6+
Provided by NOD32, have had excellent service from KAV and Ewido online scans.

ZoneAlarm® Release History

The latest ZoneAlarm release is 7.0.302.000, I am still using 6.1.744.000 (was released to the public on March 1, 2006) and they have them available for download all the way back to
4.5.594.000 (was released to the public on April 12, 2004).

OpenBSD for firewall.
FreeBSD for servers.
Linux for Laptop, desktops, and HTPC (MythTV).

I've only got one Win2k test box that isn't connected to the network.

You use "Bastille Linux", which is an interactive script that helps beginners incorporate good computing practices that harden their Linux boxes.

I usually compile and configure my own solutions from the start, so they have built-in protection mechanisms like SELinux (mandatory access control), PaX or Exec Shield (memory protection), and StackGuard (stack-smashing protection).

Which means, the only thing I really need to do is configure ipfilter (Linux's built-in firewall implementation), install ClamAV (open-source AV), TrueCrypt (open-source Disk Encryption), and MoBlock (Same idea as PeerGuardian).

Performance impact is not noticeable and RAM usage remains light.

Right now I would say that it is a toss up bewteen Spyware Terminator and Comodo Firewall.

I tried Sanboxie for a few hours the other day, but didn't feel like I truly knmew what I was doing. I could see that program making the list once I get a better grip on how to use it.
