    This is an example.

Why are there tons of folders? Application Data is repeated tons and tons of times. Scanning takes forever because it goes through each one of these.

    Direct reading: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr0.dat

I'm wondering what exactly the issue is and what caused it... if it's even an issue.

It's the same files and folders over and over... but every time they go down a single folder.

    No idea.

However, when I reformatted my computer a while back and had a Windows.Old folder there was the same thing. Tons of these folders.

A lot of your specific program settings would be lost, in some cases programs will be needed to reinstall.
