whats the best free space finder program

    Hi i am trying to find a program so i can see/visualize where all my hard drive space is or what its being used for.

    I'm not sure what you mean by finding free space. Normally all you have to do is look at the properties of a selected drive to see the free space.

    I don't know if it's the best, but if you want to see how space is being occupied and you don't want to install anything, then I would give ShowMan a try. You can quickly traverse the directories to see where the space hogs are.

    its the best of the free ones ive found so far.
    and its fast.
    it does not install anything so that is a big plus.

    ok thank you.

    i tried space sniffer and overdisk both crashed and would'nt work
    im using a x64bit os any ideas wich program to use for an x64bit windows 7 OS

    No, as I don't use this OS, but I can confirm Overdisk working on 64bit XP. For what it's worth...

    WinDirStat works fine on my Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.

    Overdisk was my favorite on XP, by leaps and bounds. I haven't tried it on 7 yet I don't think. Or maybe I did and it did not work :doubt:

    There's an older one that I really like called Sequoiaview. After you run it enable color schemes. I've tried WinDirStat and Space Sniffer, and I keep coming back to Sequoiaview for a quick and dirty look at what's hogging the disk.
