No matter what features it get i am still never going back to IE.

So the most important update will be standard compliance. But i am betting everything on it that they wont listen anyway.

I'm with you, IWOD! Standard compliance would be the single most beneficial thing MS could do, but also the most unlikely, I suspect.

    A new one for me,
yesterday I carried out the usual maintenance using all the Anti's I have,
also Regseeker, the machine was clean.

Decided to see if a repair of IE would brighten it up - mistake - as soon as it
began I got a dialog flash from my home page monitor telling me that
MSN had hijacked the home page and did I want to accept that.

Then ran HJT and there were two new lines under number 9 - both some
kind of microsoft unknown toolbar additions, which I deleted.

Reran Regseeker and the first 10 items were Red - Invalid ActiveX's.

I ran Ad-Aware and it showed a critical entry - a Tac 5 ALEXA tracker which
it says is installed with IE and M$ updates.

I have read hundreds of threads by people who have given IE the big A and
the time has arrived for me to do the same but to which one I've wondered.

I wanted a Repair not the self decided installation of crap.

    Regards.

Almost everything in the provided list of choices xD

I'm pretty sure when IE 7 comes out, I'll still be using Firefox ;)

I couldn't go with the "completely remove ActiveX" download ability....because even security applications like McAfee VirusScan and Kaspersky AntiVirus on-line web scanner require activeX agents in their downloads.

For me, it would simply be improved/more intelligent browser security. Other than the security issues, IE really isn't a bad browser...despite all the bad pub it has received lately.

I'm with Jimbob -- just get the darned thing to work. Totally aside from its security problems (most of which can be handled by religiously applying Critical Updates plus the use of 3rd-party security applications), IE6 has quite a few glitches that are totally unrelated to security. It was getting to the point where it would very frequently hang up on me while trying to download a page.

And it was being able to quickly and reliably download pages, rather than security issues, that (at the recommendation of my ISP, by the way) switched me over to Firefox except for the rare cases where I have no choice but IE.
