Have not heard much on the news front from them. I still know their product has vastly improved but would just like to know what is in store from them. Would be nice to see more of the informative posts, IC was famous for. Hopefully you feel the same and who knows, maybe we can bribe him out of hibernation.:thumb: ;)

They (Frisk) are quite busy now trying to release the next program update before Halloween I think. A Trick or Treat? I miss the Inspector too. :)

no news is good news, most of the time.

however, disappointing that they dont have a vista version, is there a beta version for vista?

Yes, but only 32-bit for now.

Frisk have a relevant Forum section and FAQs for the Vista beta.

They should have the next upgrade out soon for the present non-Vista FPAV 6, which includes some bug fixes and some new features.

it's in beta & it's a small company & they certainly aren't the last AV vendor to get a vista program out the door, read the thread!

I think that F-prot is way behind competition at the moment.
They should join some bigger company or something..

I remember 4-5 years ago people was using f-prot, now I do not see computers with f-prot anymore.

im sure they have thousands of customers, people say the same about drweb but they keep on going and have many customers, not to forget the russian federation ministry defense.

Im sure Fprot are no different, they keep a low-key on the market, have a great customer base and just 'allow' the big companys to soak up all the publicity.

smaller companies have a great advantage of being more personal, usually offering better responses to their customers, better support and usually a more friendly company in general.

to the smaller vendors, a customer like you and I, aint just a serial number.

F-Prot is still the only AV vendor to sport TWO world class researchers as well as have the Inspector! Some AV vendors do not have even ONE world class researcher.

You must have very a strange/narrow definition of "world class" researchers.

I cannot be critical of the personnel, and have no doubt that they are world class.
However, so far F-Prot has not challenged the top rung AVs in the area of detection. I am sure some will say that is not "everything" and I agree. But it is an important factor to me, and at the present I would not purchase F-Prot. Maybe in the future when the detection rates are improved I will have a different opinion, but not now.

Their pricing is great, and the AV will no doubt be all most need. I don't need more in all probability, but since I can get one that runs well and has higher detection rates I see no reason to go to F-Prot.

After all, "The proof of the pudding is in the eating."

    Regards,
    Jerry

Who sez the Inspector Happy Bytes Michael is world class? His contemporaries in the security field, that's who. Those who hire talent (& are willing to pay good money for it) agree. The jealous & has-beens & never-was's might say otherwise. Ah well... even the kingly lion has fleas nipping at his hind end, I suppose.

I just wish the finances had been around for him to stay independent & complete Gladiator AV, his own special baby.

Now.....what's the verdict? F-prot is not worth using? It would be worth using because of 'The Inspector'?
Any clear answer on this 'always has been' great product?

Not to mention those who kiss it. ;)

At any rate, if there was confusion over my earlier post, I've edited it so that the meaning perhaps becomes more clear.
