Of the choices available such as Disk Backup, Partition Backup, Disk Clone etc.,what is the type of backup that can easily be recovered to a new HDD. This is if my broken Hard Drive, from which the original backup was made, needs to be replaced with a new one.

as long as it's an os backup, all of the above would do the job. almost all backup sw allow you to resize the partition before the process (depending on your backup sw, the time, method, etc. may vary).

Some backup software will even allow you to resize your partitions when restoring. Very useful when you're migrating to a new disk with a different size.
