    Some small changes:

    Linksys WRT54G2 router

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Windows Firewall: enabled, UAC: always notify, DEP: enabled for all processes, SEHOP: enabled for all processes

Internet Explorer 8: Protected Mode enabled for all zones

Microsoft Security Essentials: signature update interval 3 hours

    Hitman Pro 3.5 on demand

I basically have two options: this or replace Microsoft Security Essentials by ESET NOD32 Antivirus and enable Windows Defender, not totally sure which one two pick out of those two. Totally Microsoft realtime versus the probably somewhat better antivirus.

Nice, you dropped a lot of stuff :), I think you can also drop PC Tools Firewall Plus. Especially if you are behind a router (router fw + windows fw is great).

You seem to be pretty scared while online banking: SafeOnline + KeySrambler + SpyShelter.

  14. Don't worry, they won't bother you unless you deliberately execute them. :D

I have reinstalled XP pro 32 bit due to a hardware issue.

I thought I'd make a lighter security setup but I tend to burden my system like I had before.

Back to Win 7 64 bit (stability improved for me) :D

    1. Core defense: Standard user account with UAC on high.

    2. MS Family Safety (shark cage approach to internet)

    3. Router with firewall
    4. DEP
    5. Firefox 3.6.3 with Adblock plus and Flashblock
    6. Windows Defender for now. MSE may have been causing instability with video card.
    7. Win 7 sys. images.
    8. Sensitive internet business done with Linux Live CD
