We use ERA for deploying policy in our organization.
This works well for workstations, but not for notebooks.

Notebook users often visit hotels abroad and find themselves block from the hotel internet facility.
As we use policies they are not allowed to add the network to exceptions.
We like to manage the settings by use of policies, but is this possible.

What is the best policy strategy for these users?

Indeed one of the best Question... at least for me ;)
    I also have similar situation
I manage all my PC's and Laptops by policy in ERA.
and among them one is; where to find a update server. As long as the mobile PC's are on my LAN it updates fine but as soon as they are unplugged from network and moves to another location (other office or home) then the problem arises.
Isn't there such option like if you find "ERAs Server" & "Update Server" update from the server .. If not "download automatically from internet"
    Thank you

To be clear we did implement the solution for updates.
This is not the issue here.

The issue is how to manage users by policy, when there is a need to give them access to adding new networks, so they can work from a hotel.
The problem arises not for every external environment.
