What is the best boot disk virus scanner?

I will need to work with a firend's computer that won't let anything be done in windows and I just wanted to take a shot at fixing it by using a dos based boot disk or something that can scan and remove viruses outside windows. With that, any recommendations?

does teh computer use NTFS? if so, DOS scanners wont work.

for NTFS systems u can try a bartpe disc with the KAV plugin. the mcafee commandline scanner is also available as a plugin. and nod32 too.

Yeah I was misleading. I meant a boot disk that has somekind of virus scanner and can actually remove the viruses.
