Based on your criteria, I think you already have the product you're looking for! Antivir is probably a top 3 antivirus currently.

    Hi

Big fan of NOD 32 here. Always been extremely stable.

As a back up, until recently used Bit Defender 8 which I also liked. Free licence now expired so trying DrWeb CureIT as a back up scanner. Really like it.

Didn't like AntiVir so much. I'm sure it's very good but didn't like the GUI and just didn't feel comfortable with it but that's just a personal opinion with no technical reason not to use it.

I recomended to upgrade your Antivir Personal Klassic to Premium Edition - to the most perfect AV in the world ! :)

    Dr.Web have worth:
    1. detection
    2. heuristic (with many fp)
    3. speed
    4. support

    nod32 has:
    1. heristics with hardly any fp's
    2.quick install
    3. uses hardly any disk space
    4. nod32 support forum here at wilders if you have any problems or questions

    kav6.0 has:
    1.hourly updates
    2.uses hardly any diskspace.
    3. after first scan the scans are really fast.
    4. great support forum with Don and Luicianbara giving lots of great support

    antivir has:
    1. very light scanner.
    2.lots of updates
    3. great heristics but quite alot of fp's but they get quickly corrected if reported.
    4.uses hardly any diskspace
    5. some comestic problems.
if you like antivir i reccomend you upgrade to the premium version for faster download servers and the antispyware and adware protection

    avast home has:
    1. quite fast updates
    2. set and forget av
    3. doesnt have many problems reported
4.the newest version is quite alot lighter than older versions
    5. detection rate is lower than some but the removal rate is better due to the boot time scanner

One note: nod32 support isn't good. If you will send them undetected virus, they add it to signatures after weeks!!! and they never reply to your e-mail.

Yes, I know it, but what I sad it's true
ESET don't listen to their customers, you can try it, send them undetected virus and you will find virus will undetected about weeks (I don't mean serious viruses).
I think Avira i the best in this job.

    :) ok

In 25 december I personally send to ESET e-mail with this threat!
I note that virustotal.com sends scaned samples to every AV companys in the list, so you can see how AV companys works... after 40 day virus isn't detected by Nod32 (and Dr.Web too).
    So..you say it's GOOD suport ?

For me there is no difference between trojans or worms. ANTI-virus must catch all of them.
Why can Avira or Kaspersky add such kind of viruses to signatures in 1 - 2 day but ESET not?
In Nod32 official forum there is many threads like - ESET speed virus lab or ESET don't listen to their customers.

    sorry for my english

    this forum is biased!
yeah, dodgy cracked versions... i hate to say, but you deserve it :D

also, the threat being a patch or keygen, some flag them all the time, some dont.

but you cant count on VT for your 'testing', you have tried to use this to say this and that before, we can all play that game, i can show 'hundreds' yes 100+ of VT screenshots were NOD32 has not found a certain threat compared to other top detection rate companys, it means NOTHING! and why VT screenshots are not allowed to be posted, it would be flooded with them.

10 reasons i can name off the top of my head,

    1. Great hueristics
    2. decent detection
    3. 9-12mb of HD space needed
    4. low ram and cpu usage
    5. 15kb MAX signature downloads
    6. Minutly updating (few times an hour)
    7. 9mb package download
    8. plenty of settings (*lol* lodore)
    9. fantastic support
    10. cool icon (*lol* lodore)

great performance at a fantastic price, nobody can argue that.

    most?

    they all are :)

and we all know they are working on an 'up-to-date GUI'

we all know it still looks like windows 95/98, but if you can get over that, its a nice little product, i personally dont even see the connection to an older windows now, i like the GUI but at first hated it, its something you do get used to.
