It certainly is reassuring that MS learned from their historical blunders (like DOS 4) and reliably continue to improve with each new release.

 

I was about posting here to ask for help after the HP Vista-gifted notebook belonging to my uncle decided for the second time in a week to BSOD and not booting up,i swear WITHOUT ANY APPARENT REASON, and i was just fuming bcz the seedy character didnt want to buy Acronis and no image is available......when i came across your post and link L Bainbridge.....
the mirth produced by the article turned my mood into an acceptable one!

Yep, upgrade to XP if you have Vista.

 

not everyone was vista has major problems.
also not everyone can go back to XP.
i have had a few problems with vista and im sure SP1 will fix the bugs.

Cheers for that, made me chuckle. Am a couple of weeks from upgrading my main PC to a new box, and it just re-inforces my belief that I should stick with XP on the new machine. Just doesn't seem worth the grief to gamble on Vista working the way I need it to. Since there seems no pressing need to upgrade OS I think I will stick with my initial instinct and stay with XP.

 

vista SP1 is due soon though right?

i wont try these RC1's or Betas that are available, but i hear the XP SP3 makes XP even faster and even more stable, so i really hope SP1 for vista is enough to make me re-try it.
