I'm running W2K +SP4 and for some months now I have not been able to download from certain sites. For instance, I have just successfully downloaded CWshredder from http://www.zerosrealm.com/downloads/CWShredder.zip but when I tried to download RBkiller.exe by clicking the link from http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm I get a blank screen with a little red cross in the top left corner.
I think it started when I tried to download some music software - it used to work OK before then, and it seemed to go wrong afterwards. I've tried re-installing IE5.5 to no avail. I've run Spybot and Adaware, but still no joy. I rather hoped that RBkiller might shed some light, but I can't download it. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

    Regards, Gary

    Hi Pieter,
    Thanks for your response.

I tried downloading from http://www.wilderssecurity.net/specialinfo/rapidblaster.html but experienced the very problem I'm trying to resolve. (My original post was not totally accurate - I don't get a little red cross in a box, I get a little box containing a little red square, a green? circle and a blue? triangle. The box is in the top left corner of an otherwise white screen.)

I posted to the ID-blaster forum because I'm clutching at straws: I'm fairly certain that my download problem is caused by malware because a) it always used to work, and b) when I experience problems with a download I really want, I can get it from my wife's computer. I apologise if I've commited a breach of etiquette but I really don't want to have to reinstall W2K and I've run out of ideas.

    Regards, Gary
