    Hi,
was wondering what books or study courses people on here are using

to learn about malware and computer security? I have heard of Sans

Institute, but their courses seem pretty expensive so i am wondering

what others are using... books?? other websites?

mostly the latest/best detection and removal techniques....i looked at the SANS site, but they want over $2000 per course, so i figure there must be a better way...

I am a training broker / provide outsourced supplier management solutions. I provide the training for a number of blue chips and can confirm that the price you mention is fine. In the UK, most IT technical courses are about £1400 for a five day event (per delegate). You will pay more for the more obscure or those where the vendor controls the monopoly - say £2K / per course.

You may want to look at Certified Ethical Hacking (CEH) training which leads to an internationally recognised certification.

Let me know if you want any advice.

    Cheers,

None. Self taught by simple search and reading things online.

I have not taken the course so I can't comment on it further.

    Chris,
yes, i believe the price, its just not realistic for me...im a little surprised that they want so much for a 5-day course...$2000 would easily pay for a year or two of computer courses and books at a junior college here in california....trying to find and remove malware is really just an interesting hobby for me...ill look into the CEH training that you mention

thanks G1111, am looking at this right now....
