What AV doesn't stay resident?

    Don't know where you got that ...
    Guess they haven't updated the site. Actually it does have AS. When you update, it will download AS definitions (named e_spy.xxx ).

    Bitdefender (free) version 10 does have antispyware scanning and you can configure the application to scan only for spyware, only for viruses, or for both. Bitdefender v. 10 will also give you better detection capability as well as faster scanning than Clam A/V and BD 10 has eight preconfigured scan modes in addition to another mode allowing the user to design a custom scan, an automatic update feature (on or off), plus it is highly configurable. I have it installed as a second opinion scanner, using Kaspersky as my resident antivirus.

    Give it a shot; I believe you'll be a lot happier with it than you would be with Clam.
