ESS said that it was up to date, but when I went to the website, it had three new updates but ESS couldn't detect them. Eventually, it made the update, but then it updated again about an hour later, but nothing happened, i.e., it still had the same virus database that it had before the update.

Should I be alarmed? I'm sorry if this is confusing to understand.

Do you have the update server set to Choose automatically? Do you connect via a proxy server? A Wireshark pcap log with the http communication captured during an update might shed more light. Perhaps you could contact customer care and provide them with the pcap log for perusal.

I don't use a proxy, and I have my update server on "Choose Automatically."
