HI all, have this running in Win 7 32 bit; I used to have the PerfectDisk defragger installed about a year ago. I was looking through c:\program files\ found the Raxco\perfectdisk folder along with the files necessary to reinstall PD. During reinstall Panda complained about InstallPD.exe and a couple of others that were related to PD. It put these files in Quarantine - messed up the install so I ended up stopping the A/V and did a "repair" install from "programs and features". Did a boot defrag and uninstalled. I submitted the files to virustotal.com and they were clean, even by Panda themselves. What was the problem? Was it because I was running the install out of \program files ?
Probably because InstallPD.exe doesn't have TrustedInstaller privileges. Appears PerfectDisk uses a .msi file: http://docs.raxco.com/perfectdisk/12/en/Installation_of_PerfectDisk.htm
Yes there is an .msi. The setup is two folders 32 and 64 bit and in the parent folder, installPD.exe I could just as easily opened the 32 bit folder and installed from the .msi file In Virustotal Panda said the files were clean as I intimated in my original post I may move the files to a c:\user\my_user\ sub directory and install from there to see if it affects the situation
