Funny with all this talk about FP's again and again and yet again, I can't remember if anyone complained that Prevx ever missed a detection and got infected and I mean infected without searching for malware and testing it against Prevx? I have been looking throughout the forums and can't find one not one at all! That's what is more impressive and that stands out for me! Also PrevxHelp got this forum here after CastleCops went down and it's for Program Support only because he is the Lead of the Development Team and he has said many times when one's had a FP to send it directly to Prevx to get them fixed faster and he use to fix them for us and even though it wasn't his job to do so but he did and if anyone had a Licensing issue he would do his best to fix it for us but did tell us to contact the support inbox as well as it's not his job if you had a program problem with P3 and I know for me he connected via Remote Support and fixed it at the time or in the next build! His Job is Program Development and I'm glad that he got a forum for us to discuss the Program and support us all and he goes way out of his way to do these things for us all!

I think it's funny that Prevx deputy sheriff TH has something to say here too (I mean that he is not only closing threads and stuff as usual! :D) but I am somehow not surprised it's again "positive" for Prevx/Webroot. - But wait, is it really? :D

I am telling you again and again, that I can't even remember the last legit (real) malware found by Prevx preventing an infection. Since years (!) it's always false positives only! - I am not kidding here.

Maybe AV vendors want us make believe it's dangerous out there but in my experience (I know what I do though) it's very hard to get infected if you are a normal user with updated applications and not doing shady stuff.

So maybe you *NOW* understand (as you stated yourself that nobody is claiming here Prevx was letting something through!) how it bothers me that ALL FINDINGS ("red malware attention danger") in a very long time were false positives! - Hence the name scareware you don't want to read! :D

Please don't try to make a positive thing out of many false positives! - If there are no real infections (and I have the same impression like you!) that only means to me there was no need for using AV .. so far! - But think about all the time that is lost by reporting false positives (if it were hundreds in the past years I had to suffer through, though I did not report them all!) and you understand why I am not letting this topic get forgotten. ;) - I want them to fix that because I want to use Prevx/Webroot on systems that are not owned and operated by Wilders "geeks" like me (I for myself can deal with the decision to make: fp or no fp, false alarm or real dangerous malware! OTHER ("NORMAL AVERAGE JOE") PEOPLE CAN'T!). - Keeping this topic under wraps isn't helping anyone. It will come out if this software for once is tested regarding false positives. - So please feel annoyed by me, dear TH, exactly as I am annoyed by false positives (regardless which AV product is the culprit btw!), but I am not going away and I won't shut up until this is fixed! :D

And you know what? - I am posting about fp's all the time because I have the feeling no one is ever listening (from Prevx). - @Webroot: Just change that, do something about it and I will be quiet very soon and praising WRSA like TH and others! :p

And to be honest: WRSA *IS* (!)an amazing piece of software, so small and so light ... I really appreciate this of course :thumb: and if in future fp's are reduced greatly (and it is doing good in official tests!) I will buy a license (and recommending it again) for sure and will maybe even replace Avira! - But not until this is fixed, sorry guys! :p

This is all getting way off topic, you may be correct in what you say. On the other hand a Prevx FP on three occasions deleted an MBR entry belonging to Rollback Rx, destroying hours of work.
This caused me more damage and grief than any malware ever has:'(

Personally I prefer the way FP's are currently handled;)

As to the rest of your post, I fully agree with your views on the superb support offered by PrevxHelp and don't forget yourself TH:D

To get back on topic I agree SecureAnywhere is worth the wait. Can't wait to see how the final version will perform.:thumb: :thumb:

Sometimes I think I am not the only broken record here. No, we are two! :D

Yes. Yes. Yes. - He keeps saying this and if he is not here you keep doing it in his place :D ... BUT .. there will be always speculations if this is really really really the real real real reason and not some poor excuse for doing it all "behind the curtain" (for public not to see as every false positive is a fault of AV-solution, thats a fact you can't deny!).

We all know that and I am completely with you here, he is living for his job and is always "on duty" and I experienced all things myself that you list here.

Yes, and because Prevx/WRSA is his baby sort of he has sometimes problems if something is criticized. - I am here a long time, you know? ;)

Since "support" is a big plus for Prevx it would be a bad decision to NOT have this forum, don't you think? - So it would be stupid to not have it and I don't see your point here. ;)

But yes, you are right with all things you are saying about PrevxHelp.
    -> 100 % ACK :thumb:

And to be fair (and I always try to be!): I had the last days not one single false positive with WRSA beta (in the meantime I did a few updates) and that is very good :thumb: , I hope that stays this way and then I am happy! ;)

But let me make one thing very clear: it would be much better to have fewer or no fp's (that is impossible of course, I know!) at all in the first place than just fixing them always fast as Prevx did (lately there seems to be delay because they are working on beta version of course). - And true is also: nobody would use a software that has at the same time much fp's (more than competition) and is then also not fixing them or not fast enough. ;)

Please consider all my input always as constructive criticism.
    - If everyone is saying "ALL IS GREAT!" that's no help, right? They have to know their weak points to fix them even if it bothers them. ;)

WRSA indeed looks very, very promising (though I do not test this against malware and I won't!). I also cannot await the final version and I am sure it will be EXCELLENT and I am expecting nothing less!
    :)

That is true at the time I was using Rollback Rx also but not anymore as I like full Image Backups now, but Rollback Rx is not a average user program and here at Wilders users will have more Problems and or Conflicts because we are Security Guru's but I know 3 in my Family use P3 and Windows Firewall with a Router and never had a FP because they are average users and don't use other programs other than Office and Firefox but I make sure that they have a few free On-Demand scanners just in case!

Ofcourse I can perfectly understand all arguments from both sides, but in my eyes there is one argument which does "allow" us to post more detailed feedback here even considering the fact it is a closed beta.

That argument is, that Prevx 4 has been heavily anticipated. We had loads of post "When is the release" and "when is the beta" etc. This anticipiation was reinforced by Prevx employees by making quite sweeping statements such as "this product we reshape the industry" and "1/10th of RAM usage, way lower CPU usage" and so on.

In my eyes the existense of this "desire" which has been reinforced by moderators on these Prevx forums allows us to post more detailed feedback on this forum. Especially in my case, where I didn't had reply for several days and have been waiting for more than 10 days now for a solution (however I do understand my problem won't be solved by simply making some mouse-clicks).

We will be allowing public feedback as soon as we move to a public beta. As much as I want to open it up to the forum (especially to be able to stop having to answer the same question over and over to individual users :)), we are currently not allowed to do so and unfortunately I don't have any control over that.

    Hi,

I would like to comment on some things posted here regarding the closed beta, but I can't because of closed beta..

All I can say that I'm not that happy with it, it does not what Joe have said..

At least on my aged pc. (CPU 1,4 GHz, 512 MB RAM, WinXP Pro SP3..)

    regards,

Thank you for the post - that detail does not violate the EULA :) We're constantly working on improving it so you should see continually improved performance as we make updates. If you could send me your email address, I'll be able to look into your support case specifically.

    Thanks!

I hope you take time to discuss the issues directly with the Beta Support Team. That way, your situation should get resolved and in turn the results benefit the rest of us that do/will use the product.

I have to say the reaction from some users about not being able to post specific feedback in these forums when it is a CLOSED beta is surprising. I've not posted anything here about any concerns I've had about the product because I was told it's a closed beta i.e. not open to public consumption, so I have communicated with the Beta Support Team directly. I have since had dialog with the team; I may share my feedback when it becomes an open beta, but by then, most of those issues should be resolved so it's a moot point.

As for the apparent "strictness" of moderation in this forum with fingers being pointed at certain individuals, I think their hands are tied in so much as they've probably been advised to remove posts that go against the idea behind the closed beta, especially when PrevxHelp isn't around. It's likely moderators like TH wouldn't want to remove such posts themselves, but I'm sure they are at the mercy of those higher up when instructions are passed down. I would, therefore, suggest users step back and not point fingers too much.

Very soon, we'll all be able to talk about the product more openly when the beta cycle changes from its CLOSED status. :)

I think just about all are missing the point that was being made. This has nothing to do with, nor started with the beta. I feel certain most would agree, it started before that. So please quit tying it to the beta, we all have enough sense to know the subject, is, and should be taboo.

    Well, that's simple! :D

-> using an avatar (for now in this moment that is *avoidsblinking*). :D

But I like what trjam is saying :thumb: (and himself and his amazing ability to be most flexible (I am trying to avoid to compare our dear friend with a chameleon here! :D)) and you don't want him to shut up just because he wrote a while ago something about exactly that, or DO YOU?

    Nah.

p.s.: trjam, I really do like you, wilders forum without you simply isn't possible and that is also true for this sub-forum. :D

Nah, I don't want anyone to shut up around here.
Some contradictions just deserve to be pointed out.
When a guy posts in a forum to say he doesn't post in a forum,
then continues to post in the forum,
that draws a response from me. Sometimes. ;)

I had a few quirks, but over all everything is great. I did make a suggestion for a possible feature down the road. Id like to see it implemented. Not sure if I can mention it here though.

Not in public at this time you will have to wait till it becomes an Open Beta.

Yes, it is standalone but could be used as a secondary AV if wanted as nothing is perfect.

    Hi,

It's been a while since I last posted here at Wilders. I ran into some problems with the Webroot Secure Anywhere beta, and I reported it 5 or 6 days ago. Why haven't anyone replied to my ticket although I got an e-mail I'll recieve an answer within 24 hours? The support seems way off compared to when Prevx was a standalone company.
