I don't quite get the point of this post, I'm afraid. The beta is a closed one and the users testing it abide under a few rules; such as not spreading videos, screenshots etc to the public.

We've been asking Youtube testers to remove videos irrespective of if they're positive or negative - they are against the confidentiality of the beta agreement and we're trying to keep the beta limited to keep a focused group of testers receiving quick responses and improvements.

Being a BETA is why it is just that and not a finalized product. On that note the lack of respect to public video testing is tasteless and should have been removed.Thats all I got to say about it.Cheers

have to agree with Joe on this one. This is a closed beta and for a idiot to post on you tube with it is just plain wrong.

Well there's another one on YT been up for 1 month now but no action taken against that one.

the only vendor to have ever asked him to remove a video was webroot, and he has done countless beta testing vids from other vendors but yet webroot is the only one.

i understand that the agreement is in place, but i have to ask myself 'why' as this is the first time i have heard of software vendors pulling vids off youtube due to it being in 'beta' phase...its just strange to me that's all

may i ask what the advantage is in having such a secret hush hush beta? and why do other vendors not take the same approach?

But most of those others are public open betas and are easily accessible via various fora. This, as has been said to death, is a closed beta, and as such, users, including Languy99, should adhere to the testing guidelines accompanying this closed beta. :)

It would seem like a slap in the face to the members here to allow videos to be posted. Many vendors run private/closed betas and the moderators here remove the posts quickly for us and other vendors.

I suppose other vendors simply haven't seen other videos which is why he wasn't contacted previously (I wouldn't have known about it if I hadn't received a PM from a member here). We currently aren't allowing even a screenshot to be posted outside of what we've posted.

We're still in the middle of a great deal of change, shipping out significant improvements every day on the back-end and client side.

We have something new and vastly different from anything else on the market and when its ready, we want everyone to test it and talk about it as much as possible. Until then, we want all of the feedback coming directly to us so that we can make the required changes and improvements.

Removing anything from Languy99 is a positive thing regardless :D On topic, I agree, you agree to certain terms, you follow them, no ifs ands or buts.

languy is a moderator on the Comodo forums, when testing comodo products he often said "I can't disclose any more at this point, but as soon as I can...".
Why? Well that's quite simple to answer, he had a CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT with Comodo. Be it verbal, via Email, or any other form of communication.
HE RESPECTED THEIR WISHES, AND THE AGREEMENT!

It's a shame he didn't show the same respect to the Webroot product as he did the Comodo one.

My take, he should buy a box of tissues and dry away those tears, and grow up?

That is funny how many people here dislike anything coming from comodo :D anyway asking to remove the video is a very low move.

We've since changed our policy and released the beta publicly (https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=305134) and asked him to put it back up, so I think this issue is resolved :)

good to hear that, i am a closed beta-tester so i was a bit disappointed by this affair (even if i understand the closed beta confidentiality). Anyway it was a small storm in a glass of water. story forgotten for me. Still enjoying WRSA.

my comment had nothing to do with Comodo, it was just an example that relates to languy that shows the hypocrisy in his response video.

i didnt focus specially on you, just an observation i made browsing the forum.
He explained that "for him" a closed beta should stay between employee of the company or credited and trusted people, not to "unknown people", on that he made a point. How can you ask people to stay quiet about a product, when generally many of them will test it against malware on VM and share with their friends?

For the rest, suggesting that people (comodo fanboys?) "should" avoid this product is too much.

Open or closed is irrelevant. There is a license agreement:

    http://detail.webrootcloudav.com/betaeula.asp

The user has simply bridged the agreement he/she signed up to. Very simple. :)

Yes it's very simple. As shadek said in the first reply, this thread is pointless.

i dont deny the agreement, but how you want people respect it when you have no way to control if they do. most of them surely didnt read a line of the agreement and just click "i accept"
