I was just over at the local Best Buy and saw boxed versions of the Webroot 2013 products. :D I was only there briefly but they were something like Webroot AV and Webroot Internet Security.

Does anyone with Webroot want to comment on these new productso_O

That's sooner than I would have expected :) I don't want to spoil any surprises so I'm going to wait until our official marketing announcements.

I was going to take some pictures of the new product boxes while I was at Best Buy but decided it was NOT my job to post them before your guys had a chance to comment first, or in this case, wait for the official product announcement.

I saw it too on Best Buy that it was released 26-8-2012 (that is strange :-0 )

There are a few different flavors of the fall release - that build is what they sell alongside their PC sales, but everything will be merged into the overall fall release soon :)

Marketing must know the Best Buy editions are out... ;) Or has someone made a balls-up somewhere? If so, heads might roll.

Hmmm... Usually a lot of product releases go out in various levels. So one or two stores will have operational stuff early because of arrangements, then there's a "soft launch" where it just kinda starts sneaking into places and such. Finally there's the "Yay Wow Kapowie!" big launch with fireworks and press releases and such.

So watch for the hints... The little droplets before the massive rainfall...

The egg is breakfast. The chicken is dinner.

What I am REALLY hoping for is that WSA Essentials will map in to something nice in the 2013 product line... :isay:

Quite honestly I would say there was some serious miscommunication somewhere in the bowels of Webroot that would allow new products to be on the shelves before they have officially been announced via their own website or simply by a press release. o_O

As a customer, this is a frustrating turn of events...:( :thumbd:

Hardly the end of the world though is it? I can't see any of our PC's evaporating because of this :doubt:

    Hey PC_Fiddler,

Your words are true enough. I was a bit harsh in my earlier post...:'(

Nope. That's pretty normal for software companies of all types (With the exception of game companies) that have regularly-scheduled updates. See: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=2117720&postcount=8 (From above)

Just a lot of them don't have pre-release arrangements with retailers that are as big as Best Buy. But I was seeing Sony Vegas Pro new stuff in stores before Sony even announced it for example.

When you're really attentive and intelligent and looking forward to something a whole bunch, you are definitely going to notice the pre-release locations and special places like you did. Kind of like the people who went three stores down in the mall and got their iPhone 5 with no wait in line at all when the Apple store still had 200 people in line who didn't realize the store three doors down was selling exactly the same thing at the same price. ;) If you were looking forward to Vegas Pro, maybe you'd be bouncing about it being in the store you went to three weeks before the official announcement by Sony.

    Techfox, gentlemen, ladies, and scholars:

If you follow my posts at all, you know that I use and recommend WSA Essentials ever since I installed it appx six months ago. Unlike most of the other security software I have used for years, it is "different by design"; it's light, tight, lean, and mean. :thumb:

BUT, when I saw the new 2013 Webroot products at Best Buy and then came home and nothing was mentioned about the new products anywhere on this forum or the Webroot website, I was a bit taken back.

I find it difficult to recommend the 2013 products without using them myself. That's the frustrating part in my eyes. :isay:

You needn't worry - the latest version available publicly for anyone anywhere outside of beta testing is build 8.0.1.233. As soon as 8.0.2.x (the Fall release) is released publicly, you'll definitely start to hear a lot about it :)
