"They shall not grow old, As we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, Nor the years condemn, At the going down of the sun And in the morning We will remember them" PEACE
"In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields."
Hi Tommy, These poems are not mine ! 11 November: USA: Veteran's Day Canada: Remembrance Day UK: Remembrance Day Belgium, France: "Wapenstilstandsdag" 1918 There are more days to remember May we all remember those who gave their life and those who suffered so much May there come one day we may live in peace
Thank you! Young brave lives that ended too soon. I shall not forget them! A wonderfull dream - Peace
Jan Thankyou for the post. So much loss. Some of my family tree ended in Flanders. "They shall not grow old, As we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, Nor the years condemn, At the going down of the sun And in the morning We will remember them" We must never forget. Regards. Longboard.
My hat is off and my heart is heavy for those who served before me and with me never to return. God bless
May we remember those not only on the 11th of November, but every day of our lives. I spent this day (The 11th of November), which coincidently is also my birthday with vets as I do every year. Sadly; it's becoming unimportant to the younger generations ... when we forget history, we're bound to repeat it. Peace to all ... Remember the sacrifice of our fore fathers, both fallen and the living ... and we shall never have to relive that horror again --- 3 strikes and you're out - The next, may; and likely will be, our last. Honour and remember those that fought; so we may never forget. Salute
