WatchYourIP v1.0 Released

WatchYourIP v1.0 is now available for download and public purchase.

WatchYourIP is an IP monitoring software that will watch your Local and Public IP addresses and monitor them for changes. The software can be configured to email a list of users in the event of a change. Custom email messages can be created to say exactly what you want them to say to provide your users the correct information.

We greatly appreciate everyone that contributed to the beta testing to make this a great product.

It is unfortunate that I have to post this.

It has been brought to my attention that a similarly named installer as our WatchYourIP, is now circulating as a trojan downloader. the installer is named "wyipsetup.exe" and the main program is "watchyourip.exe"
We are looking into this to find out where it is coming from and what can be done to stop it.

To keep you at ease, please only download it from sites listed on our official download page. Currently, a local download is the only method available, so you know its safe.

Just to keep everyone in the loop, I also downloaded the installer from our website myself and ran the scan on Jotti with no results. I attached the screenshot so everyone can see.

For starters, the infected files are enclosed in a .rar file and are on the torrent network. So for everyone that is trying to get software illegally, watch out. (Thanks Meriadoc ) There doesn't seem to be wide circulation, and as of now, seems to be inactive, but that doesn't meant it won't show up again.

The "infection" isn't a direct danger to your PC if it is installed. it is a Trojan Downloader. Meaning, it installs itself and opens your system up for its buddies to come in. These are generally not dangerous, but more of an annoyance.

Once again, your best bet is to avoid downloading software from untrusted sources like Torrents or P2P sharing programs.

 

After a month since its release, I wanted to provide an update.

1) If you look for a cracked version or keygen version of WatchYourIP on the torrent networks, you will still find a repacked version that is a trojan downloader. It is titled "Capp.Ware.Solutions.WatchYourIP.v1.0-DVT.rar". But, then again, if you are trying to download a pirated version of our software, then you probably get what you deserve.

2) The WatchYourIP website has been updated with more information and more download links. Also, any awards WYIP has won has been posted too.

All-in-all, I am proud of how WatchYourIP has performed since its launch. Again, I want to thank everyone that helped.
