While Apple strives to make their iPhones harder and harder to breach, a security researcher published a brute-force vulnerability for iOS devices that effectively cracks the security measures built into the system.

Researcher Matthew Hickey, co-founder of the cybersecurity firm Hacker House, published an exploit on Friday to allow brute forcing of iOS device passcodes, bypassing the security that is intended to wipe a device clean if the passcode entry is wrong more than ten times in a row.

Apple refutes hacker's claim he could break iPhone passcode limit

A security researcher thought he had figured out a way to bypass the passcode lock limit on an iPhone or iPad, ZDNet reported. But it turned out the passcodes he tested weren't always counted.

"The recent report about a passcode bypass on iPhone was in error, and a result of incorrect testing," Apple said Saturday in an emailed statement.
