    Warning, warning! Danger, danger!!!

The Version 9 Recovery CD defaults to Safe Mode--THIS IS VERY BAD!
AVOID USING THIS OPTION UNLESS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY, OR YOU WILL SPEND HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS PERFORMING ANY RESTORE USING USB!

You have now been warned of the danger!
    "Oh, the pain, the pain!"

I'm surprised you could do any restore from USB using the Safe Mode. The USB drivers are not supposed to be loaded in this version, so you really should not have even been able to see the USB drives.

Consider yourself lucky if your system somehow was able to use USB via BIOS support without drivers. My system won't.

True Image does NOT DEFAULT to safe mode !
On the recovery screen the alternative modes are listed and safe mode is pre-selected. There is a detailed narration on the screen explaining how each mode works. At this point the user can make a choice, there has been no default to safe mode. Of course if the user does not read or understand the instructions and accepts the wrong mode they really only have themselves to blame.

    Hello Wtsitmn,

Thank you for using Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

Please be aware that according to Acronis True Image User’s Guide (chapter 5.3., the safe version does not have USB, PC card or SCSI drivers and is useful only in case the full version does not load.

As for the media components, you can choose any available components (of all installed Acronis products) while creating Acronis Bootable Media (see chapter 9 of the above mentioned User's Guide)
    .

    Thank you.
