There are some applications that I'd really miss, e.g. ccleaner or imaging software like Macrium. I'm reasonably sure those are examples of apps that work! Anyway, if I'm aware of something that I occasionally use but isn't working, the next few weeks I can start experimenting with a similar product that does function in W10. Thank you!

Other than some security software, the only software that hasn't worked for me has been Lenovo's System Update as it thinks its running on Vista and finds Vista updates. I don't think there are any significant software compatibility issues at all for Windows 10.

So basically, I would say that pretty much any non security related app that works in a previous version of Windows will work just fine in Windows 10.

Good to hear and thank you! I "think" I've noticed/read that my three security apps (Norton, Malwarebytes (Premium) and Sandboxie) are compatible, so I should be good to go.

@ratchet I've run both Norton Security and Malwarebytes in Windows 10 with no issues.

I haven't come across any incompatible programs during my testing, and I use quite a variety. There were some incompatible programs early on in testing but everything has been smoothed out nicely from what I have seen.

Also curious (as in very anxious) about Spyshelter Firewall and Shadow Defender's readiness to tango with the big 10.

I wouldn't be surprised if Windows 10 compatible versions are released when the final build goes live. I'm sure the folks at Macrium, for example, are already testing in readiness.

I have Macrium Reflect v5, I waiting for Windows 10 to come out before updating to Macrium Reflect v6, otherwise it will just be wasted money.

Let see. EIS, Appguard, HMPA, ERP, Shadow Defender, and Macrium V6 all are working fine in the latest build of WIndows 10. So does Shadoprotect and IFW. The major thing I have is PowerDVD v13 which doesn't work. They do have a v15 out that probably does but I have to spend $100 bucks to gain.....nothing

VirtualBox is buggy as hell... And I do miss SBIE, though not as much as before browser sandboxing became the norm.

A verbatim reply to my inquiry from SpyShelter's support team:

    "Dear StillBorn,

Are you sure you need very fresh Windows on 29th at the day of the public release?

We'll try to be on time."

    And that's all she wrote.

I've not had a lot of trouble with 3rd party software, though I haven't tried a lot of it. I have noticed the registry is more locked down than previous versions of Windows. I do a lot of manual tweaks to shell context menus and such and cannot find a way to get them loaded. No permissions. Even if I launch it with PsExec I cannot change the permissions.

I notice in the latest release notes for Macrium 6.0.684 that the following has been added:
As I said earlier, this example shows the developers of this software are fine-tuning it for Windows 10. I'm sure subsequent updates will improve it even further.
