Hi , I am currently trialing a vpn. All seemed well until i tried to download a file from a file sharing website. Using the vpn i could get to the website , log in, create a download link, however when i click on the link, the connection just times out.
Without the vpn everything goes fine , and I am able to start the download.
I emailed support, and they said they would open the required ports, wait half an hour and try again.
That was last night. Just tried again and i get exactly the same results as before. Can anyone shine a light on whats going on. Cheers

Is it a free VPN or a free trial of a paid VPN ?
When you say download , do you mean a torrent ?

I ask because I once wrecked a free VPN that I was testing by trying to get a Linux iso as a torrent

An apologetic email to them got it re-instated the next day :)

Hello quietman, this is a paid vpn. I emailed them and requested a trial, they gave me one week. As for the file it is not a torrent.
It is a direct download from uploadboy. Because the file is slightly bigger than 1gb , a login is required. I do not understand why the vpn provider needs to, ( quote ) ' open the requested ports for my account '
    Cheers

All sorted now. They explained that some ports can be blocked. They allowed it and the download started. Cheers :)
