Does Whitelist Cloud still work as a standalone app? And if so, can someone point me to the latest version download? Edit: I do have license(s) for VoodooShield - till end '23!
Hi Paul, It looks like you might have found the latest WLC, but for anyone else looking, http://www.whitelistcloud.com/Download/InstallWhitelistCloud.exe Cheers.
Thanks Krusty. I did go to the forum afterwards, but still wondered if there had been any further developments ... I don't have VS running on my main machines at the mo', but a release version of WLC, for home users, would get my vote.
Does VS and Comodo Defense work together ? I'm looking for something to replace AppGuard life time that don't exist anymore.
please note that vs & d+ are not a substitute for ag. vs is anti-exe and d+ is hips, whereas ag is srp.
Blacknight- VoodooShield is a superb addition to CF. They actually work quite well together, and running malware on a system protected by a VS/CF combination is a hoot. What one can expect when running a malicious file: 1). If Comodo's VirusScope/Cloud Lookup detects a threat it will be deleted before either Auto-containment or VS reacts. 2). If the Comodo AV system does not have a definition for the malware it will be shunted off to the sandbox. 3). If VS finds the file malicious you will get a prompt to either Block or Quarantine the file. The best choice here is Quarantine- this will delete the malware within the sandbox, essentially doing the same things as flushing the Comodo sandbox manually. Pretty nifty! 4). If the file is unknown to both the Comodo AV and VS, it still will be contained by Comodo and rendered harmless. 5). And I won't even mention the utility of the CF Outbound connection protection. Regarding VS itself, I think the system snapshot on installation setting up a Whitelist is genius. Everything Good is Good, and anything unknown to the Whitelist is suspect. Reminds me of a saying from my Misspent Youth: Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius.
Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius. LOL.....Kill them all, for the Lord knows who are His own. OR, Kill them all, let God sort them out. I have thought about Voodooshield and Comodo FW together, but wasn't sure how they would interact. Maybe in a few weeks, when the memory of the past Comodo nightmare version recedes, I might give them a try, though I think either one is adequate by itself.
@cruelsister thanks a lot,for your so complete explanation ! VS seems really a very good program ! anyway, I use Defense+ without Auto-containment and HIPS in Paranoid mode.
I think they're both enough by themselves. If you want a second layer, try Andy Ful's Hard Configurator with Comodo FW. They work well together. Hard Configurator also works nicely with Voodooshield.
(closest) free alternative: hard_configurator (by andy ful). paid alternatives: see this thread started by @Roberteyewhy
VS is probably a good program for those of you who know what it does and how to handle it. However, for some, (like me) it can cause problems from time to time, just by using it. I have tried it a couple times and decided I an not the right user for VS.
Downloaded free version, any idea why it can't connect to its servers for file scanning both vodooshield.exe and its service are allowed in firewall rules in simplewall ; is scanning a paid feature?
