I'm very optimistic about whitelist cloud.

A check for update button on the UI would be nice.

It's got one, but slightly hidden. Just click or double click on the version number. I'm getting a "Not responding" message now though.

It was a temporary server outage. It should work now if you try again.

    Cheers.

I really hope that whitelist cloud stays free for home users, on account of the fact that it's little more than a scanner. Business and corporate users need to pay though, because they'll be installing it on A LOT of devices.
VoodooShield however needs to have the same business model it has now.

Possible performance issue with Whitelist cloud. It somehow makes other things on my system use more ram. After uninstalling it and rebooting, my system uses WAY less ram, even after the system has been on for awhile.

There's not much point just posting here. Maybe you should post on the COU Forums or send Dan an email.

Sorry, can't help you with that. I'm not a member there either. Maybe @Triple Helix can assist.

I think you would receive better one-on-one support via email anyway.

I can't NOT use a VPN. I don't know if you're aware of this, but internet service providers in America are allowed to spy on their customers without their consent now. I answered the captcha thing correctly and the other two questions to protect against bots correctly. I tried it with one of my disposable email addresses and then with my real one, still goose-egg.

I'd rather not say. I will say however that COU is literally the only website I've ever visited where the VPN I use was an issue.

It is PIA actually. I've been paying for it with giftcards from random stores. I guess a lot of people use it then?

yep. that's why most of its servers are blacklisted by most cdn's. it's impossible to surf the web without solving a recaptcha if you're on a pia ip.

I rarely ever have to solve recaptchas to browse the internet. I don't know what you're talking about.

There's a handful of websites I've visited that made me do that, but I would say >99% of the websites I visit don't make me do that. Bare in mind, I google around for a lot of different things and I'm always visiting unfamiliar websites.

Yeah, that makes sense. If a whole bunch of people are connecting to the same service from the exact same IP address then I can see how that would set off alarm bells. Perhaps it's the server I use that allows me to avoid it or perhaps it's because I usually use duck duck go or bing.

the problem with pia is that you cannot choose the ip you connect to, the client is assigned a random ip that's least used at that moment. so you need to disconnect and reconnect repeatedly till you're assigned a new ip.

What? No. You actually CAN connect to different regions that all have different IP addresses. By default it connects you to the server with the lowest delay on it, but you can easily choose a different one with two clicks.

with other vpn's you're allowed to choose the single server (i.e. the ip) you connect to. say that you want to connect to a server located in japan. the client provides a list of servers located in japan, each with a unique ip. and you can choose which server you want to connect to. so if a server is blacklisted then you can try another one instantly. pia client just shows you that they have 274 servers in us east but you can't see the exact locations and ip's for those servers. but with protonvpn, for instance, you can choose a single server from a certain region/city.
