Thank you! I should be pretty much finished tonight, but either way, I will have a version for you guys to try within 10 hours or so. There may be a couple of things that I still need to add in the next day or so, but since I made major changes to the engine with the 4 modes, I am curious how well it runs on everyone's systems. If it runs as smooth on my systems as it does yours, you will like this version a lot!

 

Btw I couldn't get pass SPPVSC (path ~) I allowed it like 20 times in the last 2 weeks and VS still blocks it. (This process is activating most of the times when I enter MS Word. (MS Word crashes when SPPVSC process is blocked)

 

That is really odd, I wonder why it is doing that, sorry about that. I do not think this next version will fix the problem, but it might. But very soon we will be running the engine as a service, and that will fix the problem for sure. I hope to have that finished within a couple of weeks. Thank you!

 

Dan - How will that affect compatibility with other Internet security software?

 

VS already works great with pretty much everything, unless the other software runs dos commands, then there are issues. I will be working on the issue after I tweak the auto reactivate and deactivate settings, and then it should work perfectly with everything!

 

I have my entire portable programs directory whitelisted but when I open my clipboard manager the first time VS still blocks it, now when I click on it again it opens...why does VS still block it when it's already whitelisted?
I haven't had any other issues so far with other portable's

I know what you are talking about... VS is verifying the registration during this pause. I will try to make it verify the registration after the shield comes up.

 

Please try this version!!! I did not get a chance to fix the CMD issue yet (sorry, I will very soon), and I have not added flash drive support yet, but I will soon.

This version SHOULD work really, really well. If you have any problems, please let me know! Either way, it will not hurt your computer, I just hope I didn't forget something.

Edit: I just noticed a CPU spiking issue when VS is Smart Mode and Inactive. I will fix that asap!

I noticed that Task Manager eats like 10% when the beta version is running, when it's closed Task manager is at 0% .

 

Yes, you don't even really have to reboot either. There is a CPU spiking issue on Windows 8 if VS is in Smart / Inactive Mode, but I am working on it now. For some reason, it is not affecting Windows 7 as far as I can tell. If anyone else notices it, please let me know!

 

Yes, exactly, that is what I am working on right now. It should only happen in Smart Mode, when a browser or web client is not running. If it happens in any of the other modes, please let me know. It should be easy to fix, I think I am close.

 

I will give her a try later tonight. I'm working on an important project at the moment.

 

BTW, you can temporarily fix the CPU spiking issue by going to Settings / Advanced / Uncheck Protect User Space in Smart Mode.

 

Hi Dan

Just d/l the latest version (noted you ammendment). Unfortunately it is not working correctly. The icon does not appear even leaving it for a few minutes. Does not appear when I load the browser.

Nothing happens when I click on the desktop icon. Task manager shows that it is running and consuming small resources.

Cannot uninstall since I cannot get to the icon to shut it down so am retuning to an earlier image.

I am running Win8/64.

No panic but any ideas?

Will check back tomorrow.
