  1. Yes but you are more like a power/expert user than average PC user, so it is good that VS has several modes (for different user groups).

I had another freeze this morning. I'm starting to wonder if it's because I'm waking the PC up from sleep. I'll just randomly notice that the VS icon isn't turning blue and when I right-click on it the menu pops up but it's frozen.

I usually put my PC to sleep at night but VS always pops up working when I wake it in the morning. I am running in AutoPilot mode, normally with just the Ai scan running. Sensitivity set at 100%.

Win 7 Pro, UAC (default), WSA and either MBAE or HMP.A.

Hey everyone, Vlad is going to start working on VS very, very soon! I just sent him all of the info. I am totally buried right now, but I will look through the posts soon and figure out which ones that I missed, that we need to respond to... assuming that Vlad did not respond first! Thank you, have a great weekend, talk to you soon!

A lot of people have asked me about the AV-Comparatives test, and who is going to be in the test, since their whole thing is comparing different security solutions, which makes sense since you have to have some kind of metric in order to have some kind of meaningful result.

They are surprisingly quiet about the whole thing… all I know is that they are going to test VS, and I would be extremely surprised if they did not “compare” VS to other security software. If I had to guess, I would say that the obvious contenders would be Cylance (machine learning / Ai) and Sophos (traditional AV industry leader).

And if I had to guess again, assuming that 1 + 1 = 2, we will come out on top ;).

I could be totally wrong, but I have done enough testing that I would be shocked if the results were any different.

You guys have helped me to make VS an amazing product, and for that, I thank you ;).

    Hi Dan

I am sure that I echo the others here when I say that we cannot wait to see VS matched against the opposition in a valid and truly equal comparative, and equally we are certain that VS will come out on top given the 'amazing' applicaiton that it is. It is nothing less than it, and you, deserve given all of yourself that that you have put into VS over the years.

Thank you for making such an 'amazing' product. :) :thumb:

    Regards, Baldrick

@VoodooShield Hey Dan Disabled/Install mode should be just that, so why is it trying to block things when installing something?

    Thanks,

    Daniel *puppy*

Dan don't waste your time with any Testing by the AV testing organizations IMO.

The AV tests so often revered as a mark of AV efficiency are meaningless to me...I prefer the hands on tests by knowledgeable users on youtube and I have every confidence in Voodoshield.

I agree with that statement except youtube testers. There just as bad or even worse.

Hey TH, oops, VS should not be blocking anything in Disabled mode, that is very odd. I will put that on my to do list and once Vlad is finished with his fixes, I will take a look at it (unless he has time to look at it before then).

There are a lot of different ways to test security products, and to me, we should test VS in every way possible. I would think the absolute best way to test would be an actual real world test with thousands of real users (comparing several different security products), to see what slips through over several months. But I think that would be an extremely difficult test to perform.

One of the absolute worst tests is when a malware researcher / pen tester uses an old version windows, flash and internet explorer, and tries to make everyone think that he bypassed a product, when he actually did not ;). Speaking of that, is anyone else going to be at blackhat this year?

BTW, what do you think is the best way to test security products? Thank you!

Thank you, I appreciate your confidence in VS ;). Yeah, there are many ways to test, and I think different points of views are always helpful.

Thank you... yeah, hopefully Vlad will have the freeze bug fixed very soon. VS never froze for me while testing, so it should be good to go for testing.

Actually it's been that way for awhile and many builds just forgot to report the bug.

An unbiased test from any one of them but not to compare with others. IMO nothing should get by VS so they can't allow anything to run......or are you wanting to test it's AI feature in Autopilot?

Hi Dan, I had an install file (tixati) on my desktop I was meaning to run but shut down in error. When I re-started I immediately launched the exe. It was allowed to run and install before VS started up fully. VS in always on mode. Been able to replicate it. Is this normal? If so what does it mean for malicious files dropped and scheduled to launch on start?

    Thanks

Av tests are useful to promote a product. Whether they are efficient would certainly depend of each person's opinion.

Some youtube testers, like @cruelsister, are in my opinion more efficient and reliable while testing security software. This is because with videos we can actually see how the testing is being done.
