    Hey Dan,

Since you were kind enough to give me a free licence I thought I should earn my keep, at least a little. I've installed 2.31b and yep, the setting screen takes a few seconds to load - maybe 5 or 6 but I didn't count. This was just after VS prompted for the restart on install so that may of contributed to the delay. It opens straight up now though.

Other than that, so far so good. :thumb:

    Cheers!

Edit: OK, so this is obviously a belated question, and I know it is a beta so all bets are off, but do you consider these betas safe and stable enough for production systems? Any serious bugs in this or near future versions likely to surprise me?

    Thanks,
    Dave

I had a very minimum lag when this time around with this current beta. Maybe 2-3 seconds. Noticeable but not out of control. 2.22h and i, had a long lag time when I booted up. The lag on those two lasted for about 20 seconds. I thought that the laptop had locked up. Newest beta 2.31a (haven't loaded b yet) working well with WSA newest beta.

Quote is from VS FAQ. Not my system. Just a comment on FAQ verbiage "killing a virus". "VoodooShield keeps flashing" and "killing a virus" does not compute imo.
VoodooShield flashes when blocking an item according to VS Tweaks

I'm not having any luck with WSA (webroot), and VS. VS blocked something in the programdata folder when WSA was updating even though I chose allow, and it caused WSA to become corrupted. I uninstalled WSA, and installed again. Then VS blocked the password manager plugin from installing in Firefox. I chose allow when prompted, but it blocked the plugin from installing anyway. WSA will not install the password plugin in Firefox now. I'm going to have to uninstall WSA for a second time now, and try again.

Ok, i'm running into the same problems again. WSA wants to execute something from the programdata folder (maybe some sort of update), and VS is blocking it even though i'm choosing allow. Take a look at the video I uploaded to my Dropbox account.

Edit: disregard Dropbox. Something very strange is going on with my account right now. A few minutes ago all my files were gone from my account, and now the link does not work! I will have to upload it to another cloud account. What a pain! Give me a moment.

I wanted to make the video downloadable, but I have not used Skyedrive since it was converted to one drive. It have me a link that is playing it in the browser. I hope you can download it on your end because the video will be crystal clear if you can. It's so fuzzy playing in the browser that I can barely see what is going on.

I've found when I'm installing a program it goes smoother if I put VS in Training Mode until after the installation is complete, then put VS back to Smart Mode.

Its hard to do that if VS has already prompted you for an action like in the case with WSA above. The first time it happened WSA became corrupted the very first time it got blocked. WSA was randomly disabling after that. Well, I wanted to make the video in my prior post downloadable, but I have not used OneDrive, and the link I gave wants to play the video in the browser. The video is too fuzzy like that. Well, I have spent the past 3 hours messing around with this so I think i'm just going to give up trouble shooting this any longer. WSA, and VS just will not play well together on my machine.

VS continues to block more from WSA, and the browser plugin which caused Firefox to crash. Whenever I choose allow when prompted it blocks it anyway. The VS tray icon just starts flashing like crazy immediately after choosing allow. Well, i'm going to roll my machine back, and worry about VS another day. I've spent all the time I have to spare on this issue.

    Hey Dan,
Yeap indeed, this beta works simply flawless with Windows 8.1 64bit on my board :thumb:.
I haven't seen any general issues to report or any conflicts beetwen VS, WSA and SSFW working all togheter in the real-time.
I must admit I'm not suprised much, beacuse the latest betas not only seems to be very stable but also don't cause any problems at all - at least not for me :thumb:.
Of course I will let you know if only I notice something weird ;).

    Many thanks :),

    Mike

Miquell, I have been unable to get VS to allow executions in the programdata folder belonging to WSA. I'm using the latest beta of VS, and the latest beta of WSA. Did you do anything special to get VS to allow executions in the programdata folder belonging to WSA. WSA has a bunch of executions taking place in the programdata folder causing problems for VS on my machine. No matter how many times I allow them VS prompts me again to infinity.

  16. Dan,

The beta install still asked for 2010 version. Could you post when VS is compiled with 2013?

    regards Kees

    Hi,

I have no idea if this is related to VS but I've just had all my desktop shortcuts that used to have the UAC shield on them suddenly lose that UAC shield and I'm kind of used to seeing them. Does anyone have any idea how I can get them back, please? :'(

Did you check to see if UAC was still enabled? VS ask if you want to disable UAC during installation.

Yeah, I disabled UAC when VS prompted but the shields on the Desktop Shortcuts were still there. They've just disappeared not long ago for some reason. I suspect I could turn UAC back on, restart, then create new shortcuts but I don't know if that would work and am hoping for something simple.

    Thanks.

Hi Cutting_Edgetech, no I didn't do anything special, except allowing VS prompts on WSA activities.
I'm curious what Dan thinks about it, but maybe a fresh training would solve this issue? Did you try to make a new snapshot?
Some problems with updating whitelist to the cloud, MrGump mentioned before, might be an answer and therefore your actions are not being saved. I remember that I had a short-term issue of synchronization some time ago,
I simply did a full whitelisting on my account and in the next steps - a fresh installation and training - and since then everything works flawlessly. Of course these are only my thoughts :doubt:.

    Best regards,

    Mike

    Hey Dan,

I've noticed something weird happens when I click on VS shortcut made while installation on my desktop.

    http://i.imgur.com/OfRL04F.png

Each time I click the shortcut VS doesn't open the working one (GUI), but seems to be starting a new process "VoodooShield.exe" working in the training mode o_O, while "VoodooShieldService.exe" remains still the single one.
Altough this issue, the main VS services (starting with Windows and other stuff) work properly and VS does its job as always.
    Any ideas :doubt:?

    Best regards,

    Mike

Thank you for your reply! I don't synchronize to the cloud. I always disable that option because my wireless internet connection sucks sometimes. I did try a snapshot, but after I took the snapshot WSA continued to execute more executables from the programdata folder so kept getting more, and more prompts. I'm going to try to switch to train mode for a while next time. I will have to wait until prompted before switch to training mode again, and hope the first executable blocked from the programdata folder does not cause problems. The first time it happened WSA began to act really screwy. WSA began to disable, and reenable itself after having some blocked events from the programdata folder belonging to WSA. I allowed them when prompted, but it caused WSA to become corrupted somehow. This is the latest beta of WSA. I should jump over to Webroot later, and see what they think. I wonder if they could design WSA to do all those executions in the Program Files Folder instead of the Programdata folder.

Hmmm, when you click allow, it should add this command line to the command lines in settings. Is this the case? Thank you!

For XP and Vista, yes, .net 3.5. For 7 and 8, it is not required because VS uses the native .net runtimes. Thank you TH on the full screen question!
