Hmmm, I am not sure about the MBAM, that is hard to say. I see on the windows picture and fax viewer, that the file was not on the C drive and it was a gif. I will experiment with these two variables and see what I can some up with.

Also, TH noticed that the settings were not being saved after the computer is rebooted, which is kinda similar to the settings bug that you reported. That is an easy fix, so then hopefully all the settings will be just right, thank you!

Yes..I capture and save my screenshots to another drive, rather than than the C drive.

So, TH has the same bug, then?

My first log from the new beta, shows MBAM...this was probably when I loaded it from the shortcut on the desktop, even though it was showing in Process Explorer, but the tray icon was missing. Probably, I am incorrect with that assumption.

I got the same prompt from Windows in the past when VS began to silently block applications. It only happened with some applications when something needed by the application was being blocked, but the application was able to load anyway. I wish I could remember what the applications were. I think it only happened with maybe 2 to 3 applications. Maybe it is related to your problem.

Hmm, that must be the issue because I have not been able to reproduce the error yet.

Yeah, TH was having similar problems with the settings when he rebooted. So from what you two explained to me, it dawned on me that we need to save the settings before the user clicks Exit. It will be a super easy fix.

@Tarnak and Cutting_Edgetech... Ok this is starting to make sense now. This might be happening when VS automatically allows something in the Program Files or Windows System folders. So I am going to turn off those options and test VS for a long time to see what happens. I know something is triggering this, but I just have no idea what is because there are not any errors in the code. But once I figure out what is triggering this, it should be pretty easy to fix. Thank you!

There was a build you released a while back that I did not have the problem with VS blocking everything silently when it first loaded after install. I don't remember if it began to block things silently after using it for a while. I posted about that build somewhere in the thread saying that VS is no longer blocking things at startup after first installing VS. I'm going to install 2.09 right now. Get back with you in a moment.

There was no change in build 2.09. VS still blocks some applications silently, and allows others. VS still blocks control panels, and computer. VS blocks MsPaint, but allows Notepad. They are both located in the system32 folder. What's different about MsPaint, and Notepad? Also VS logged MsPaint as allowed even though it was blocked.

Maybe, but I am 100% sure that it had the really bad bug of not detecting child processes. I think we are getting very, very close!

Yeah, I think I know what is going on. Although, that is odd that it blocked MSPaint and said that it allowed it. I will check into that!

I found the bug, and this will be fixed in the next version, along with ALL of the settings issues that Tarnak and TH had as well!!!

After, a reboot a short time ago, the MBAM tray icon is back where it should be.

    Hi Dan

I see from your later post that you have identified the bug, but if you want to test the program it is eMClient and can be downloaded here

    http://www.emclient.com/dist/v6.0.19690/setup.msi

It is basically an Outlook clone.

The other problem I am having with 2.08 is that it is locking up some programs. I wonder why nothing is happening and suspect the program has crashed, also Task Manager etc will not load. Then I shut down VS and all springs to life again. It seems to happen every 2 or 3 hours when I am working on it.

I will try 2.09 and see if it still happens

Yeah, it was a bug in the settings that was causing that issue with the email client, it should be fixed now, along with all of the bugs in the settings.

The locking up problem is the same issue that Cutting_Egdetech is experiencing, except he experiences the bug right away. I had the same issue that you did in that it did not happen for 2-3 hours. So far so good on VS 2.10, but I am sure that 5 minutes after I post a link to the new version, the bug will come back on my system ;). Please try 2.10 and let me know if you could. Thank you!

After, the reboot to complete install, I got the following situation. No option, made. I chose 'smart mode'. Windows Picture and Fax Viewer needs VS to be disabled before it will open, still.

Yeah, the missing check mark is a new bug, I have reproduced that on my end, so it will be easy to fix. For the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer Issue, I think the best thing to do is this... I can compile a special version and send it to you. When it blocks the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, it will give you the path of what was blocked, and we can take a look at it. I will do that soon, after I fix the check mark issue. Thank you!

Unfortunately yes, i use an application called Checkpoint mobile to log on to my computer at work from home. Yesterday after returning home i got a call some of our systems wasn't working.....so i logged on ......after doing this you get a list of resources you can log on to via remote desktop, i could not get it (RDP) to work, until i remembered Cutting_Edgetech's & Tarnak's posts about blocking without being notified. So i put 2.10 in trainingmode, didn't work. Exited, didn't work. So i unstalled 2.10 and immediately it worked.

Its's the first time i've seen this, at least that i noticed! ;)

Ok Dan - will try 2.10

Just a note on 2.09 it seemed to run ok yesterday, but this morning after several minutes the registered window popped up with my login and password already entered, and it accepted them when I pressed the button. Did not check any further but noticed later that it was still showing Off. On right clicking the icon nothing had been selected, I thought it should at least be in training mode.

Cool, thank you! I believe both of these items are already fixed, but I will test some more to see! This reminds me of the the time about 2 or so years ago when we were trying to work out all of the bugs out of VS 1.0 ;). We finally got there, but it took awhile ;).
