Sounds like new anti-exe. It has you "learn" all your current programs you run. Then you take it out of learning mode and run it normally. You have to turn it off to install a new program.
Ugh I went to download it and run it in VMware. Forgot I was on the linux side of my dual boot. Hate when that happens.
Ok I tried voodooshield in VM. It is a very simple program. The install was super quick. It took about 1 minute to install. When it restarted it automaticall y placed you in its training mode. It has you go through and use all the programs you normally would use. All I had in my VM was IE. I tried about 20 links from MDL and clean-mx and it blocked everything. It also blocked werfault.exe from running. Voodoo shield turns itself off when you exit out of your browser. It starts again when you use your browser or it says your email program. That's about it. If you want to run a new program you put it in training mode. The only other options are to autostart with windows and turning it off completely. It did block programs that were downloaded then started. I didn't try shutting the browser down and then trying to install the downloaded malware. It' very simple program. It was using about 10-11k mem while idle and 12k while running a browser.
I tried it no pop ups dead silent and desk short cut does nothing. maybe I got black magic spell on it or me.
Hmm faulty install maybe? Mine was a little tricky to start. Took a minute or so after the initial splash screen. After that it should the "Run all your programs for a few minutes"
If it blocks files that have been downloaded from the protected process that would be great. I'll give it another go tomorrow.
My bad it works,I just misunderstood how it works.Anyways, it blocks like Appguard in lockdown mode,Excutables are not allowed to install. It only works when browser is open and the protection is off when browser is closed Downloads saved to desktop prior to download are allowed to install with out intervention of VS.
From VS FAQ http://www.voodooshield.com/FAQ/ "unless it is allowed"...like Emmuize, Xyvos WL? VS on YT http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmk5bKN0CtA
@ kjdemuth & djohn Thanks for testing it so far It seems Very light on resources Are you planning to keep it for a while ? @ ichito Thanks for the link
Your Welcome. For all the beta testers you will get I believe it was 6 months free when its final.I think I will keep it for a while.
Trjam just through some confushion to the thread. It looks like is was released mid November and is final according to that link or am I just missing something.
I found some issues that I reported. 1. The Gui does not open 2. I assume train me builds a white list thats no where to be found. 3. No help files.
Yeah to add to that. It doesn't give a option to unblock files that it blocked. Also has no log as to what it blocked.
The only thing to do when it blocks a file download is the put it into training mode. I will say that it is pretty simple to use. I installed it on the family desktop, opened each program, and took it out of training mode after about 10 minutes. No complaints from anyone yet.
