VLC- minimize to toolbar?

Hi,

How do I minimize VLC to toolbar just like Windows Media Player?

 

Do you mean the taskbar?

If so when you open VLC, right click on the tray icon and select hide VLC media player in taskbar.

on my Win8 I use VLC beta 2.1 could be different but if you go in
Tools-Preference ther is a Show systray icon (or something similar, mine is in Italian language)
Restar VLC and there is a VLC icon near the clock
Apparentlu seems not able to hide the VLC icon in the left side that still continue been showed, but if you wanna hide the left icon click VLC near the clock and choose "Hide VLC mediaplayer in taskbar" and so the left VLC pinned icon disappears

I don't know if WMP work so because I never used it, but this is the max you can do with VLC
