VLC's interface was sorely needing an overhaul.

This is welcome news and a beneficial development for it's dedicated users.

    Glad to hear that.

    I'm still using 2.28.

    Did they ever fix 3.xx?

Could you please specify which issues.
Since VLC media player 3.0.0 there have been several updates and many fixes, as you can see in the changelog.
I use VLC media player 3.x since version 3.0.3, and by now I use 3.0.6.

    Regarding security,
in versions 3.0.3 and 3.0.5 numerous 3rd party libraries were updated, fixing security issues. These 3rd party libraries were not updated in 2.2.8, leaving 2.2.8 less secure.

Thanks. Then maybe it's time for me to update.

Interesting, seeing as VirtualBox also got a new interface recently.
