Many shops and businesses have been unable to process Visa cards today. It seems ATM's are unaffected but chip and pin and contactless are. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-44335804
Interestingly I had a slight glitch with Visa yesterday. The payment site claimed I'd not put the right code in. The numbers were right though, I re-entered the exact numbers a second time and it went through. It's never happened on that site before.
