I think that this is an interesting development. While I don't think that this will be utilized to a huge extent quite yet, I do think that firmware malware will become more prevalent in the years to come. Wow, sure is a nice update. Now if the desktop utility could scan your current firmware, that would be insane.
After reading this article I've download and backed up latest UEFI firmware, just in case. I still don't know which tool is more user friendly though.
