Virus writers target web videos

    This is the reason why I'm considering VideoLAN - VLC media player as an alternative for media players that require codecs. VLC supports a large number of multimedia formats, without the need for additional codecs.

    Yeah this really is no surprise, but I do not think more experienced users will fall for this. You should be downloading your codecs from trusted sites anyways. :rolleyes:

    Yes that´s the problem of course, but normally speaking the more popular download sites like Snapfiles for example won´t link to malware. And hopefully in the future, tools like SiteAdvisor and Scandoo will correctly identify malicious sites. I´m not using them right now though. ;)

    Hello,
    The ones you used for a time and did not give you willies. Or ask people you trust. Or use a scapegoat machine, test on it first - if it behaves - install on work machines.
