Virus Problem - HELP !!!

Hi everyone, please can someone advise me.
I run Kaspersky Anti Virus, and lately it has picked up 12 known viruses each time I do a scan, which it doesnt delete.
Also, each time I do the scan, the number of virus bodies increases - it started with just a few , and now its a few THOUSAND!! YIKES!
I am not a computer expert, so if anyone has any advice, please keep it simple!
I update my computer virus definitions hourly, so they are up to date, and Kaspersky is picking up the viruses, but not disinfecting or deleting anything it would seem.
It sometimes comes up with message and a file name, telling me it is infected with a trojandownloader virus which it cannot disinfect. I have set up Kaspersky to disinfect if it finds a virus, and if disinfection is not possible, then it should delete the file. It doesnt .
