Virus from a homepage?

    I have heard that I can get a virus just bu surfing too a homepage without downloading anything or conforming a activeX component. Is this true?

    Yes, that is true.

    That is why you should download HTAStop, if you don't already have it!

    This kind of risk is mostly related to published vulnerabilities in the Windows operating system or Internet Explorer. By crafting pages that use the vulnerability, a script kiddy can exploit the hole and insert harmful code on a system. Noone will out of the blue create a virus distributing web page without knowledge of vulnerabilities.

    As you can see: most of these hazards can be overcome by patching as soon as Microsoft publises a patch (tonight's the night :)), and also by removing the number one cause of infections, dump IE (here I go again...).
