Roboscan, AVG, Avast. Good job for the freebies.

Thanks for heads up. Am I blind/missing it or did Symantec pull out of the RAP testing also (i.e., in addition to pulling out of av-comparatives testing)?

Is Lavasoft Ad-Aware free? Don't think it matters though, since free has the active detection, too.

Fortinet looks like it is continuing to do well in this test. Anyone using it?

Haven't seen any wrong with it. Although I must remind you that I use it without the firewall, only the AV part (heuristic on).

I never test roboscan against malware directly, but hitmanpro and EAM (on demand mode) confirm that nothing got past to it.

that should be good enough for me :thumb:

    as for usability :
it's by far one of the most least annoying AV I've ever use since MSE, silent is indeed golden.
update time is very fast, since I believe the update sig is small
scan time are also very satisfying

    overall : I Love it :D

I didn't even notice it in the chart, but you are right. I test the latest version once a week or two ago, and then again last night. Works well.

What about Avira? Is it no longer free?

If Avira is still free, then from the graph it did exceptionally well from the vantage of being a free or even a paid AV.

Both free and paid versions of Avira are on the graph.

The paid version of Avira for home users (Avira Premium) is not on the chart. Avira Pro is the business version.

Where do you see Panda in the chart?
Or are you saying that you are going to try it out anyways :doubt:

May give Fortinet a try sometime soon.

This is off topic, but it seems like almost every paid antivirus company has a free offer of some sort...except maybe McAfee as I think Symantec has some/most of the signatures in PCTools now...but Bitdefender, Vipre, Kaspersky (ZoneAlarm), Panda, etc etc...seems like more free av's now days than ever before...I suspect this is the current marketing scheme adopted generally (except for a few) av companies.

For me Roboscan does well, Fortinet continues its upward imrovements, but the one surprising me most is Ad-Aware. Even the free version has an emulation sandbox. Anyone using it right now?
